Research guarantees the safety of your home
The force behind Honka Fusion™ homes is Honka's own research and development unit. In order to improve the technical properties of the house structures, they co-operate with leading research institutes all around the world. For many years, the health and energy benefit of wood houses has been Honka’s most important focus.
The Honka Fusion™ solution was originally developed in the late 1990s by the product development team of Honka's German subsidiary.
Since then, Honka's R&D unit has subjected the solution to intense research. In co-operation with technical universities and the Finnish Research Institute, VTT, they have developed it further. More than 20 Honka Fusion™ homes have already been built. The key components of the wall structure are protected designs in the EU, preventing cheap and substandard imitations.
CE certification signals safety
In 2004, Honkarakenne Group became the first European manufacturer of wooden houses to be allowed mark houses with the CE certification mark in accordance with ETA (European Technical Approval) approval. In 2009, the ETA approval was updated to include also the Honka Fusion™ technical solution.
Fire safety in Honka Fusion™ homes
Massive wood is fire-resistant and can withstand fire even better than concrete or steel posts. Wood contains about 15 % water so before the wood can catch fire, the water has to evaporate. Surface charring also protects wooden structures. In a fire, a massive wood house becomes charred but it won’t collapse, unlike houses constructed with steel or lightweight walls.
