Supporting sustainable development
As the world's largest manufacturer of log houses and as the producer of Honka Fusion™ homes, we prefer Finnish wood. Our company roots are deep within Finnish forests and our long experience guarantees your family pure, renewable and high quality wood. We don’t buy or use wood from protected areas. All the raw wood material that’s used in your Honka Fusion™ home comes from areas that support sustainable development. At the moment, more wood grows in Finland than is cut down, making wood a renewable resource of more than 100%. If we took all the wood above this 100% level and constructed homes, we could make at least 70,000 middle-sized homes and the forests would still not decrease. We buy our wood from areas that are situated in the best possible growth zone for high-quality pine. As our factories are also located in these areas, there is less need for transportation, thus reducing any environmental impact.
The environmental Honka Fusion™ home
There’s absolutely no doubt that using wood for construction in environmentally friendly. The industrial production of logs uses only 50% of the energy required to produce cement and only 20% of that needed to produce bricks. Wood is also cut very carefully to make sure there is very little waste. Sawdust and smaller pieces that are left over are used for other products such as pet bedding, packaging materials and birds’ nests. Some is also used to produce energy to power our production facilities.

There is no plastic damp-proof lining in the walls of a Honka Fusion™ home. Honka's Smart Ventilation System™ is able to build wood-fibre insulated log walls that can breathe. This allows water vapour to move freely between the wall and the air, so there is no need for any plastic damp-proof lining. As well as this, the wood-fibre insulation enhances the natural.
